Bologna Children's Book Fair
I have never imagined I'd visit Bologna Children's Book Fair in my life...If I am in Europe, and if I am studying illustration, and if I don't have class, why not? I am not sure if Jimmy is the 1st Taiwan illustrator exhibit in Bologna. I hope I can...'Aim high, stay low'. I will work harder...
When you see this post, I am in Bologna now, and coming up with few days visit in Florence and Milan with my friend, Eva. I can visit Italy finally too...although I thought I'd leave it to someone...Anyway, I look forward to this short holiday, and get more inspiration in these beautiful cities.
Sorry for fewer post in the coming days~

Handmade illumination
I thought it was a wrong pen I bought in HK. I finally discovered it is useful to make illumination on textured surface~ I drew the 'Unipia' badge on my sketchbook, and it will soon accompany me to Italy :)

Interpretation
Murakami's 1Q84 arrived Europe finally. I was amazed by its book cover design which is completely different from that original Japanese version (both Japanese and Hongkong versions are similar). This one is very British to me, and it's red at the side. Which is Murakami's favorite? :)
We always have different interpretations on any subject...social and cultural value...

Exhibition staff
The group exhibition at Chelsea was finished last week. I enjoyed being a reception staff and observed and listened how the audiences responded to my works :)

I am a lucky girl
My parents' photo taken in Tam Shui, Taipei last year
Eva, I visited your blog and you mentioned my Swatch watches are available in Colette in Paris. Do you remember our designs have been published in the same magazine before? I was studying IELTS at McDonald's and you showed me that magazine suddenly! Your 'Fragments of the Sky' and my 1st Love Collection at Swatch. What's a surprise!
Sometimes, I think my design is 'culturally odorless'...especially I was working on my research essay. I should stick into one city, and reveal my cultural identity...However, I am glad that my dad showed me a lot of things from foreign countries although I haven't left China until 21. He told me his stories when working in different cities. My mum prepared me the best breakfast when I was a kid. I'd keep traveling, like my sisters do. I'd quit my work and paid to study suddenly...etc...
Thanks all, and I gained a lot of personal experience to create my illustrations.
And I hope I can contribute to you all with my drawings, no matter it is related to Hong Kong or not. It is me.

Austin's workshop at Doodle Bar
Thanks Austin, our tutor, to bring us this doodle workshop
This is Doodle Bar at Battlesea
Some warm up exercise before drawing on the walls
We started our doodle by drawing our head on blackboard
Oh..shaked, but I enjoyed this 'stress out' workshop a lot
Then, we drew on white boards only using colors, no black
We'll later put black lines in 2nd session
Feel free~

PolyU SD
We have 'PolyU SD' on Facebook finally! It was posted by Kacey Wong (one of my favorite professors). Maybe you have found description of other departments/professions before. Anyway let me translate the subtitle from left to right. Top row: 'My mum thinks I am studying here', 'My friends think I am studying here', 'Society thinks I am studying here (it is a hospital's photo...)'. And bottom row: 'Foreigners think I am studying here', 'I think I am studying here', and 'Actually I am studying here'.
Studying at School of Design in HK Polytechnic University is my happiest time. And this is my most favorite among 3 colleges I have studied...(BA, exchange study, recent MA). I really enjoyed the freedom, studios and facilities, my SD friends, etc. I didn't care we worked overnight at the studio and had breakfast with friends before lecture. I did not mind I forgot to get off the bus at 4am, back home with taxi again..and back to studio at 8am.
We hided ourselves in a small room in basement (with mobile signal) and prepared for our group exhibition together. Boys' sleeping bags, psp, doodles on the whiteboard.
Now, we are working happily in our own design field, and so our professors do :)
